The EMA beamline intends to allow experiments of several techniques, such as x-ray diffraction, x-ray spectroscopy and X-ray imaging, subjecting samples to extreme pressure, temperature and magnetic field conditions.
The EMA beamline intends to allow experiments of several techniques, such as x-ray diffraction, x-ray spectroscopy and X-ray imaging, subjecting samples to extreme pressure, temperature and magnetic field conditions. For this scientific position, the selected candidate is expected to develop his own research connected with the possibilities open with the Sirius’s Extreme Conditions Line (EMA). The researcher will also be strongly involved in new technical developments and interaction/support with the external user community of this experimental station.
The candidate must meet at least one of the following experiences/requirements:
– Experiments with temperatures < 1 K and magnetic field > 10 T;
– Experiments with applied pressure > 50 GPa;
– Single crystal x-ray diffraction technique;
– Coherent x-ray and/or nanometer x-ray focused beamsizes techniques.
It is also desirable, but not essential, that the applicant has some experience in:
– Scientific instrumentation
– Diamond anvil cells
– Synchrotron techniques
We expect that a candidate with extensive experience and competence will have much to contribute with new ideas and new projects for the full use of the infrastructure of this institution by its user community. In this sense, it is expected that the selected candidate will be able to develop his research independently, as well as collaborating with the other team members.
Research activities should be in connected with LNLS interests. The laboratory wishes, encourages and prioritizes cooperation among its various groups, in order to enable ambitious research projects that make LNLS research unique, in addition to optimizing available material, financial and human resources and also understanding that interdisciplinarity is increasingly becoming a requirement of science and technology today.
