Nature Photonics highlight Sirius as a last generation machine


The magazine presented the main synchrotron light sources under construction at developing countries

Location of the synchrotron light sources in operation or under construction in the world. The 3rd and 4th generation machines are based on more precise equipment, being more energetic and producing brighter light

Sirius, the new synchrotron light source being constructed by the LNLS, was highlighted in the editorial published on Nature Photonics.

The magazine mentions that new synchrotron sources are being commissioned and built around the globe, with an emphasis on developing countries.

Among them are the Taiwan Photon Source (TPS), Solaris in Poland, the Synchrotron-light for Experimental Science and Applications in the Middle East (SESAME) and, enclosed, Sirius. In this context, the new Brazilian light source was presented as a state-of-the-art fourth-generation machine.
