The Accelerator Control Group (CON) is responsible for the project, construction and maintenance of the control system of the current synchrotron light source UVX from the Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS). The control system is set of hardware and software responsible for the communication among the numerous electronic devices present in the accelerator.
In UVX’s current control system, designed and built in the LNLS and operated by a proprietary protocol, there is the exchange of data between a central computer and hundreds of electronic modules that execute several functions of control and monitoring.
The system allows total control of the synchrotron light systems, such as the injection system, the sources of current and the radio frequency system. Through it, it is also possible to monitor a great number of essential sensors for the operation of the machine.
Currently, the group is responsible for the project and construction of the control system of the new synchrotron light source Sirius. At the same time, a great update of the old equipment present in the UVX has been made, which also serves as rehearsal for the new developments proposed for the Sirius.
